Movie Review Saand Ki Aankh – Director Tushar Hiranandani directs the scene of the colour coding with a very mild hand. This scene depicts the subtext – that this is life, where the incidences show what all is happening to women who do not have the right to question the status quo. Patriarchy, chauvinism and discrimination are lethal in this feudal system. The men sit around smoking hookah and treat the women as labour by day and a baby-making factory by night. The plot and the story

It is set in Johri village, Uttar Pradesh in 1999, where the three wives of the Tomar men are unceasingly veiled. They are identifiable to the male citadel principally by the colour of their veils. Bimla, the eldest is red and Chandro (Bhumi Pednekar), the middle one, is blue. So when the youngest wife Prakashi (Taapsee Pannu), comes to her new home, she must choose her own colour.

When a shooting area is set up in the village, Chandro envisions a ticket for her granddaughter Shefali (Sara Arjun) and Prakashi marks a way for her daughter Seema (Pritha Bakshi) to snap out of the cycle of inequity. In doing so, older women realise their latent abilities as challenging sharpshooters. But they can do so covertly. Family patriarch Rattan Singh Tomar (Prakash Jha) rules with a cruel fist so it takes all their imagination for the 60-year-old versions to find reasons to move out of their village area to fight across India.

Movie Review Saand Ki Aankh

Prakash Jha as the idiosyncratic headman of the family is reasonable. With his mellowed and balanced acting, he makes you hate men who repress women in the name of family values and religion. Vineet Kumar Singh, like always, lives up to the expectations. He is neither too much nor too less but draws just the right expense of innocence to his role of the Shooter Dadis’ coach required. Read more, Movie Review Saand Ki Aankh.

Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar in Saand Ki Aankh are great in Tushar Hiranandani’s Saand Ki Aankh, which discusses women empowerment in real sense. Only the tingling factor is the actresses’ prosthetics, which come across as make-up.

Cinematographer Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti does an excellent job of apprehending the true nature of the story is set in. One special scene in which Chandro Tomar brings her granddaughter to learn shooting is brilliantly shot. The camera captures the two ladies entering the gates in the light on a motorcycle side-mirror, and then pans to show the coach in the same mirror. Director Tushar Hiranandani manages to compress out satisfactory work from his actors, in Movie Review Saand Ki Aankh.

Like its non-aerodynamic title characters, The Angry Birds 2 Movie is a hilarious ride and takes you to a delightfully entertaining flight. All the way it lands on a great hit of this year.

The Angry Birds 2 Movie review

Synopsis

Oh – did I mention that it is based on a mobile-based gaming app. Thrilling and exciting where one bird is hit by another. the movie focus on real values and teaches forgiveness, teamwork, modesty, friendship etc. It flaunts a plot and action prefaced on the foundational principles of mathematics and it also promotes girls to study science and be a techie. Read, Angry Birds 2 Review.

Storyline – Angry Birds 2 Review

Right from the first scene, it’s verified that this series of ‘The Angry Birds’ is rigidly a kiddie flick and thankfully, it did not even try to something else. In this sequel, the flightless angry birds and the green piggies are back on the island. Both the islands are this being threatened by Zeta – the eagle lady from an alien island. Then they both realised that they shall put their battle on hold and come together to save their islands from a rogue eagle named Zeta (Leslie Jones). Will their magical and weird alliance save the day for the frenemies? This has to be watched for.

angry bird 2 movie review

Apart from kids, even the adults will be amused to a certain point. This is to thank vigorous voice work executed in the movie. If the sarcastic tone of Sudeikis’s Red is slightly generic, Jones’s larger-than-life vocal appearance makes Zeta outrageous beyond her flamboyant feathers.

Angry Birds 2 Review

The first “Angry Birds” movie was, convincingly a story of scepticism. In this new and refined sequel, the message is more promising: If we could only put down our disagreements, we sway to save the world. That’s not a bad virtuous after all, which is achieved not by slingshot, but centres that are just adroit enough to keep you flickering along.

Bollywood is always known for thrillers, and movies infused with mysteries and suspense have its own audience in Bollywood industry. Reasons for this are many, they keep you stick to your chair; they thrill you every second for guessing what is coming next, etc. With its own set of audience, thriller movies have created their own niche in Bollywood. On the contrary, there are some underrated movies that seem to be intriguing yet not hyped much. For example, Nirdosh a suspense thriller of ZEE5 that casts Arbaaz Khan, Manjari Fadnnis is one of the best thrillers of 2018. However, it did not grab the kind of attention it deserved from the audience. You would probably know quite a few of them and must have watched as well, but here’s a rundown of a few, Check the list below:

Nirdosh

Let’s kick things off with the movie that I blew me away recently. Nirdosh dropped in the theatre in 2018. This suspense thriller cast Arbaaz Khan, Manjari Phadnis in the lead roles. The story revolves around a family of three that came to a toppling affair when a paying guest Mahek Chahal comes to stay with them. The movie is directed by Pradeep Rangwani and Subroto Paul. They have tried to make the story engaging through a brutish investigating Inspector Lokhande who arrests Manjari Fadnnis as a prime suspect. Later in the story, we realise that everyone seems to be a suspect in this murder mystery thriller. Arbaaz Khan looks handsome as always, and Ashmit Patel too had an appealing look in the movie. The other cast too did a fair amount of justice to their role. You can Watch Nirdosh Online anytime you want.

8X10 Tasveer

Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor – 8X10 Tasveer is a Hindi psychological thriller starring Akshay Kumar, Ayesha Takia, Sharmila Tagore, and Javed Jaffrey. Right from the bat, one can see that the movie travels along with the character Jai, who is a forest ranger in Canada with a unique trait of seeing things in past just by starring at the photographs. He developed this mysterious talent when he died in an accident under mysterious circumstances. Further, he starts looking for his father’s murderers with the help of his psychic powers. The cast of the movie leads movies were able to keep me hooked to my chair. Akshay Kumar – the star himself has done wonderfully well. Ayesha Takia plays a good role but, to be very honest, it was not that impactful, whereas Javed has justified the character’s needs. Overall this thriller is a must watch for all thriller lovers.

Shagird

The 2011 thriller is directed by none other than Tigmanshu Dhulia and stars Nana Patekar as Hanumant Singh, Mohit Ahlawat as Mohit Kumar and Rimi Sen as Varsha Mathur in the lead roles. With such a food casting crew, Tigmanshu Dhulia cooked up a great cop thriller. In Shagird, a rookie cop questions the tactics of his bosses and tries to track the kidnappers of his girlfriend. Unlike the others mentioned in the list, Shagird has jiffies of authority and an uneven, clammy texture that thuds particularly when the camera twists through the bylanes of Old Delhi. It is a crime action thriller which starts with Bunty Bhaiya, who is the gangster and has been arrested in Ghaziabad. What follows forms the entire story of the movie. In a nutshell, it is one cop thriller that no Nana Patekar fan can afford to miss.

Shagrid Movie ZEE5 Spirited Blogger

Phobia

Phobia – I must say that it is a must watch movie for a Radhika Apte fan. She is a phenomenal actress and has done all the justice to her role in this psychological thriller which got released in 2016. The movie is directed by Pavan Kirpalani and produced by Viki Rajani. Phobia revolves around the life of Mehak Deo (Radhika Apte) who suffers from agoraphobia. She is not able to respond and interact with people who are unknown to her and thus, remains aloof in her apartment. To make matters worse turns out that the apartment that she holds herself in has a traumatised history of a tenant who inexplicably vanished. The plot is interesting, and the background score from Karan Gaur makes the whole story appealing and edged.

Phobia Movie ZEE5 Spirited Blogger

Bollywood has been superlative in terms of cinema, and the above mentioned are a few movies that did not get the response from the audience. Had they got the right amount of attention, many of them would have ended up as future classics. Nonetheless, they are spectacular in their own way. Watch them on ZEE5 whenever you want.

John Abraham’s Espionage RAW – Romeo Akbar Walter Bollywood Movie Review

RAW - Romeo Akbar Walter Movie Review – Spirited Blogger

Starring John Abraham, Mouni Roy, Jackie Shroff, Sikandar Kher and Raghubir Yadav in key roles, RAW – Romeo Akbar Walter has been directed by Robbie Grewal. Music director: Ankit Tiwari, Shabbir Ahmed, Sohail Sen, Hanif Shaikh, Raaj Aashoo.

We see there are ample movies being made that based on the martyr and the warriors of our nation we have had since ages, in fact, we see them all since our independence and post that era as well. But, what Romeo Akbar Walter has done is immensely marvellous. This is my personal view on the movie – coming to the story, it has nailed like any other RAW and intelligence agencies movies in Bollywood, but what makes me intrigued is the ability to pull it off with the niche that it almost felt that it can be an anti-Indian movie. Nonetheless, it wasn’t!!

To start with RAW – Romeo Akbar Walter

can be a slow burner for many as the pace goes like a turtle but later it cleans up the mess from our nation during the times of 1971 war and post that when Walter Khan (John Abraham) soars into the patriotic Indian agent working on the lands of Pakistan.

RAW - Romeo Akbar Walter Movie Review – Spirited Blogger

The story

The first half, in specific, is quite deliberate and takes its own time for the setup and build up. You might feel that nothing’s really up-to-the-minute here in this movie and it is getting emotional on every front unnecessary, but nah, by the end of the film, it all makes sense. The writing is pretty good I must say and the screenplay is a bit precarious. I personally loved the twists in the movie but was hoping to have more; however, no offence but the script perhaps demanded the same.

Romeo (John Abraham) played a spy but was shown as a bank cashier who was then recruited by India’s foreign intelligence agency — the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). They believe he’s a master of disguise and can operate as Akbar, India’s undercover agent in Pok (Pakistan occupied Kashmir) – all these events are during the time around 1971 Indo-Pak war. He pulled it off strategically and for me, it is one of the most amazing works of John post-Madras Café.

I quite like the entry of Sikandar Kher – the moment he steps in the movie the twists and the drama enthralled the audience. I would like to see more of him in films and of Raghubir Yadav as well as they both are fabulous actors in their own genre and Kher has to be pulled off more. Mouni Roy needs to work on acting skills more, it’s nothing like she isn’t one but for movies and great cinema she had to choose what makes her comfortable. Needless to say about amazing work done by Jackie Shroff, it was a delight to see him on the screen in such a strong character.

RAW - Romeo Akbar Walter Movie Review – Spirited Blogger

My ratings: 3.5 out of 5 stars (only for John Abraham)

Critic Review: A bit slow movie at pace but in the end has triggered the audience with patriotism and real station between India and Pakistan.

PS: A definitely must watch a movie for John and his team, Robbie Grewal god job done. Go watch it guys.

Captain Marvel has jumped the ladder in the Marvel-DC series – Movie Review

This movie has climbed higher and has raced faster in the captain marvel series. It is topping the charts the second week too on the box office. The global box office collection is yet another milestone in the process. The MCU flick has already earned another $69.3 million in North America, a drop of 55% from its $153.4m debut frame. This is, quite outspokenly, a deeply dreary result, as it’s neither a super-duper hold nor a super-super drop. It is more-or-less on par with the various Hunger Games movies and most MCU flicks (Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Ant-Man and Thor: The Dark World among others).

Movie Review - Captain Marvel

The story has Brie Larson as Carol Danvers and she became the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war. This war is between two alien races. The story is set in the 1990s and is a whole new adventure from previously unseen period movies in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During the scenes, you would also feel that it is powerful than the Thanos as well. Captain Marvel is an extraterrestrial Kree warrior who has a connection to Erth and sees the glimpses of her life on a planet where there is life. It all started when Captain Marvel finds herself caught in the middle of an intergalactic battle between her people and the Skrulls. She saw herself living on earth 1995, and those memories keep on recurring her mind as U.S. Air Force pilot Carol Danvers. With the help from Nick Fury, Captain Marvel she tries to reveal the secrets of her past while hitching her special superpowers as the Marvel Captian to end the war with the evil Skrulls.

Movie Review - Captain Marvel

The film offers several positive messages related to perseverance, integrity, and more, but the greatest takeaway is watching a fearless, confident, mighty woman become a superhero. Carol Danvers is a fantastic role model: She always sees herself as capable, she’s not objectified, male counterparts recognize her intelligence and strength, and she has a strong sense of integrity. Women support women, the characters are diverse, ageism is nonexistent, and romance doesn’t figure into things at all.

The story is quirky and upbeat – Luka Chupi – Movie Review

Luka Chupi – Movie Review

The story starts with a sparky topic of live-in relationships which is still a taboo in our society. What happens is that a popular actor Nazim Khan reveals his live-in relationship on the news and that’s when the whole issue and propaganda of the live-in relationship started. It became a national issue in Mathura. Further, in the story, the reporter Guddu (Kartik Aaryan) and his associate Rashmi (Kriti Sanon) fall in love with each other. The first half is jam-packed with some sequences that are not quite appealing but yes the one-liners and the dialogue delivery of Kartik Aaryan is falling flat as a pancake. Kartik Aaryan is a huge misfit at places despite the fact his one-liners were fantastic. Also, I would like to mention that the ace actor Pankaj Tripathi was not used at his best in the movie. Kriti Sanon looks gorgeous but doesn’t get anything to recur the magic she displayed in Bareilly Ki Barfi. Pankaj’s presence makes some scenes manageable but an actor of stature, doing this – it’s just deplorable.

Luka Chupi – Movie Review

Directed by debutant Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan, the film will hit the screens on March 1, 2019. It also features actors Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi and Vinay Pathak in key roles. For me, Luka Chuppi’ is a situational comedy from the word go and it also has a strong point to put about live-in relationships. According to t me, the way it has been portrayed was good enough as this is a serious topic in Indian societies.  What starts as a news story for a local reporter Guddu, turns into his own love story with hilarious complications. But peddling along are a host of other societal issues like misogyny, gender inequality, caste bias and moral policing that are tackled in a funny and harmless way. Though, there is barely a dull moment in the film that never takes itself too extremely. As a debutante, director Laxman Utekar does a superb job of giving us a bunch of idiosyncratic letterings in rare situations. Starting with the film’s hero Kartik Aaryan, who looks way too refined for his small-town character, but along the way, you soon start rooting for him. Whether he is casing a story or running for cover himself – Kartik exudes an engaging charm that is relatable.

Luka Chupi – Movie Review

My ratings: 3.5/5

Overall, ‘Luka Chuppi’ is an amusing ride that never gets too preachy or scratchy for the family audience. It’s a spotless entertainer with a message that’s not too loud, but clear, for sure.

Son Chiraiya – Movie Review
Son Chiraiya – Movie Review

Son Chiraiya is a story that tells us about of Chambal Ghati – India which widely known for a pack of rebels and is marked for dacoits as well. Since ages, we all have been hearing and reading a lot of tales about Chambal Ghati. The dacoits have their own set of rules on which they live on and adhere to them quite strictly. Additionally, they have a regime that they will not harm females and children. The story is set on of the gang from Chambal – The Beehad gang, which is being cursed by some circumstances when they were robbing a house. The group then pursues to rob a wedding, however, later the conditions make changeovers and they get their backs against the wall. Later in the movie, you will see a large size of dacoits was killed however, a minority of dacoits including Lakhan (Sushant Singh) succeeded to escape. After that, Lakhan had a new objective as during the escape he meets Indumati (Pednekar) with a little girl named Son Chiraiya who was a rape victim and needed help to survive and need to be taken to the hospital within 48 hours, else she will die.

Son Chiraiya – Movie Review
Son Chiraiya – Movie Review

The story moves ahead with this same notion and Lakhan (Sushant Singh) stayed on his promise to make the gang free from the curse that everybody has been suffering from. For me, it actually catered to the niche audience and the actors including the supporting staff made it happen to their best. Sushant Singh Rajput played the penetrating character of Lakhan and it is well-thought-out one of the best performance by him. Ashutosh Rana and Manoj Bajpayee are dexterous as ever. Apart from that Bhumi Pednekar fits flawlessly in the role of Indumati Tomar. The film is crammed with action and while you watch it you feel like a trip to the small yet muddled villages of Chambal. Apart from that, the film also delivers some loud messages and issues that are still seen in modern India. It depicts some of the biggest issues like misogyny and the patriarchal society, which is dreadful to watch but reality.

My ratings: I would give it a 4/5 star.

What a movie to write for – Stree Movie Review – here’s my take on it – Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor starrer one of the finest and the most original films of 2018. Stree marries the notion of broad comedy with horror, dark humour, and the social attire attached to it – that brings life to the story.

Stree Movie Review Spirited Blogger
Stree Movie Review Spirited Blogger

A town which happens to be in the grip of terror and covered by the tales of mysterious woman, who is ghost and calls the men by their name and then pull them towards her, finally abducting them, the funny and the horrified part of the story is that the Stree leaves the clothes behind and take the men. In spite of all little loophole sand stuff in the movie and all that ambiguous ideas, Stree is definitely an entertaining film. This is an untried comedy, which creates an unnerving atmosphere and certainly manages to be witty, funny and surely scary at the same time. Chanderi’s wonder boy was finally tailored extraordinaire, where the  Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) falls in love with a mysterious girl (Shraddha Kapoor) who just comes once a year for the puja and at the puja time. But, her disappearing act involved her friends in suspicion and they start thinking that she could be the Stree haunting the city for long.

Stree Movie Review Spirited Blogger
Stree Movie Review Spirited Blogger

The review: The ingrained prejudice against women and chauvinism are some of the social evils that exist in our society and eats the world out there. So, it doesn’t matter whether you’re educated or you are a civilized person, women have always had been on the vulnerable side and had to always play second fiddle in the male-dominant system – this is the irony of our Indian society. The world one day would positively, do well to give every woman far more respect they deserve. To see such an apposite conversation especially, unfold in a horror-comedy like Stree, was a refreshing and unique experience for me. But, it feels a bit juddering as well, it is also being compared with Bhool Bhulaiya starring Akshaya Kumar and Vidhya Balan – but when the film pokes fun at horror film ideas and finally entertains the audience with its jibes, unexpectedly bursts out into a comment on radicalism. In a bid to be socially germane, Stree ends up being a little too preachy but the comic timings of Raj Kumar Rao and the professor – Pankaj Tripathi was epic.

Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi

Cast: Sonakshi Sinha, Jimmy Shergill, Jassie Gill, Diana Penty

Director: Mudassar Aziz

Rating: 3.5/5

Sonakshi Sinha and Diana Penty starrer ‘Happy Phirr Bhaag Jayegi‘ released at the theatres this week. The film has been enjoyed by the audience who eagerly purchased their first-day first show tickets for the movie. In the public review, few said Sonakshi Sinha has shown a huge improvement in her craft. However, there was a comparison between the two actresses as well, Diana and Sonakshi, as their roles had different demands and responsibilities.

Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi Review - 2018 | Movie Review
Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi Review – 2018 | Movie Review

Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi had a slow start at the box office. The Sonakshi Sinha starrer earned only Rs 2.70 crore. Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi is the sequel to 2016 film Happy Bhag Jayegi, and stars Sonakshi Sinha, Jimmy Sheirgill, Ali Fazal and Jassi Gill. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted out the figures, saying, “#HappyPhirrBhagJayegi has a slow start on Day 1… Fared better in North… Needs to witness substantial growth over the weekend + maintain a strong trend on weekdays to leave a mark… Fri ₹ 2.70 cr. India biz… The first part had collected ₹ 2.32 cr on Day 1.”

Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi Review - 2018 | Movie Review

My review: The 2016 film Happy Bhag Jayegi was a surprisingly bubbly brew, an undistinguished yet boisterous comedy about a runaway bride. The sequel is set in Shanghai and tries too hard to set the base as it was a new land. Nonetheless, Jimmy Shergill steals the show more than Sonakshi Sinha as he is the man who is doomed to falling for girls – named Happy. The gags and the laugh quotient failed at places as the audience is comparing from the previous one. In between due to this the film seemed over longing and exhausting. How I wish these movies were about Bagga.

Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi Review - 2018 | Movie Review

Also, for me it is absolutely a must watch the show – for a lot of reasons but yes the lack of consistency and the sharp lines with a quick wit often seemed lapsing into the puerile. Also, if someone were to get down to “reading” things seriously and watch the dialogues trying to analyse then all that actually transpires in to the on-screen Shanghai – having said this Aziz’s attempt to highlight the China’s political and economic domination of the region was great but guess audience would have loved to have a more humorous way on it.

That is, using a Bollywood film as a tool, at a time when the likes of Dangal have been reigning at the Chinese box office. From noodles to fake goods to “shey shey” (with ‘Mera naam chin chin choon’ in the background) everything Chinese is game. In fact, India, with a little help from Pakistan, is made to come out much smarter than the Chinese themselves on their home turf at that. Above all the Pakistani Policeman – the character played by Piyush Mishra is a secret laugh gig in the film, in fact, Bagga and Afridi’s timing on comedy and the best-plotted dialogues is the source of success for the film.

Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi Review - 2018 | Movie Review

Overall the first one was an epic but the second one misses out of a lot of things on the charts but yes, the Jimmy Shergill steals the show with no girl in the hand.
