World Book Day | Encourage to Share a Story | Bookshelf

This year the theme for World book day is – share a story. It is apt, as all of us have ample stories and experiences to share. This is the 24th year that the event has been held. It comes around on the first Thursday of March every year, in the UK. This day is also acknowledged globally in over 100 countries across the world. Other countries celebrate World Book Day on William Shakespeare‘s birthday – April, 23.

Read a book daily

What’s happening this year?

Due to Corona Virus Pandemic things are quite silent this year. Everything is virtual and webinars are held online. There is hardly anything happening offline. Books are offered for just £1 – through book tokens, and they can be used to buy one of the exclusive books on offer through the scheme or used to buy a full-price book or audiobook that costs £2.99 or more. Kids are also being encouraged to share their stories with one another and prizes are on offer for the best. A selection of free audiobooks are also on offer, which launched on February 18. A Book Club is also being launched in March 2021.

Woman who reads and travel

On this note a quick tips for kids on how you inculcate them to read more and share more. Let them share their stories and encourage them to become who they want to:
  • Create a reading area.
  • Read in front of your child
  • Make reading a daily habit.
  • Create a reading space.
  • Take trips to the library.
  • Let your child pick what to read.
  • Re-read favorite books.
  • Find reading moments in everyday life.
Remember: READING SHOULD BE FUN, NOT FRUSTRATING!

Year of the Metal Ox – All you need to know

lunar year 2021

So in 2021 it’s the “Year of the Metal Ox,” which hasn’t happened for 60 years. The Ox represents the first year of the 12-year zodiacal cycle, with 2020 being the “Year of the Metal Rat.

chinese new year 2021

How it is significant to the world? Ohh yeah it is, Friday, 12 February, 2021 celebrated “Chinese New Year,” it is one of the globe’s biggest annual celebrations as a fifth of humanity celebrate with rice cakes and dumplings despite it being a mostly virtual event this year. We all know why…

Solnal in Korea 2021

However, as well as also being called “Spring Festival” it’s also referred to as “Lunar New Year.”

Why? What has this occasion go to do with the Moon? How is Chinese New Year calculated and why is Chinese New Year always on a different date? What Chinese New Year animal are you? And what is a “lunar year” anyway?  Here’s all you need to know about it all.

Chinese new year

Chinese New Year 2021 starts on the day after the first New Moon that falls between January 21 and February 20 each year—which this year occurred on Thursday, February 11, 2021—and ends on the first full Moon of the lunar calendar two weeks later. This new year begins on February 12, 2021 and ends on January 31, 2022.

year of the ox

The Chinese New Year 2021 animal is the Ox. Each year has an animal sign in the Chinese Zodiac (literally “circle of animals”), which is based on the Moon and has a 12 year cycle. Interestingly, so does the planet Jupiter, which takes about 12 years to orbit the Sun. However, there is also a cycle of five elements—wood, fire, earth, metal and water—which together creates a 60 year cycle. So in 2021 it’s the “Year of the Metal Ox,” which hasn’t happened for 60 years.

metal of the ox

Which Chinese New Year animal am I?

Don’t make any assumptions if you’re born in January or February and want to find what Chinese New Year animal you are. It’s no use knowing that, for example, 1976 was the “Year of the Dragon.” It was, but only for those both on or after January 31, 1976. What you need to know is that exact date of Chinese New Year in the year of your birth. For example, anyone born on January 30, 1976 was born in the “Year of the Rabbit,” and anyone after that in the “Year of the Dragon.” calculate what Chinese New Year animal you are.

Chinese Calender

It’s the final full Moon of the astronomical season of winter in the northern hemisphere. In China the celebrations close with a Lantern Festival.

lantern festival

“Chinese New Year” or “Lunar New Year?” While the former refers to the event in China, the latter—and another term, “Spring festival”—is used to recognise the fact that the event is celebrated all over Asia, not just in China. Lunar New Year is celebrated in Vietnam as Tết, as Losar in Tibet and as Solnal in Korea.

Vietnam as Tết

When is the next Chinese New Year?

In 2022 Chinese New Year will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 when it will mark the beginning of the “Year of the Water Tiger.”

Wishing you clear skies and wide eyes.

Bheemkund – Mysterious water pool in India #incredibleindia

Bheemkund Travel blogger

It is a magical water pool. Natural in nature, with clear blue waters. Also known as Neelkund. There is an uncovered story about this place, which keeps you intrigued. It is situated near Bajna village in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh. It is 77 km away from Chhatarpur by road in the Bundelkhand region. Bheemkund is astonishingly a natural water reservoir and a holy place that purportedly dates from the era of the Mahabharata. The water of the Kund (tank) is so clean and transparent that one can see fish swimming in the water.

bhimkund pool author on travel

The pool lies in a cave, about 3 metres from the mouth. To the left of the passage is a small Shivalinga. The pool is a deep indigo blue which distinguishes with the red stone walls. Folklore attached to this place dates back in the times of Mahabharata, linking Bhimkund with the Pandavas. Exhausted under the sweltering sun, Draupadi fainted of thirst. Bhim, the strongest of the five brothers, hit the ground with his Gada, water swelled out and the pool came into being.

The roof of the cave has a small opening just above the kund; this is the place Bheem is said to have hit with his Gada. Closely monitoring, it does look like the head of a Gada. It is 20 meters in width. During the Tsunami in India, there were 30ft high jump in water levels. 10 ft high tides arose from the deep waters. The locals have observed it.

bhimkund2 author on travel blogger

The water is blue, deep blue naturally. It keeps on shifting its colours as well. No one till date could examine the depth of – the real depth of this bheemkund. 200 ft deep down the pool if you go you experience water cyclone. Whenever there is a natural calamity there is an effect of it seen in this pool.

Even the earthquake of Nepal had an impact of it here. The pandits and locals have witnessed 7 ft high tides of water. Same was with the earthquake in Japan. It is being said that this place always indicates about the natural calamities to take place. It is a mystery that how this place indicates the natural calamities before it even occurs. And after a few hours, we see some of the other natural mishap happening.

The water is holy and can be kept for years as it is. No algae, no bacteria, and no dilution occur in the water. It is like Ganga and other holy water we keep with us. If this has a connection with oceans or a way to the ocean, then why this pool does not have saltwater. There are theories based on them but no one can prove it. Chattarpur has no connections with the ocean for 1000s km.

bheemkund travel blogger

Pujari Ramesh Prasad Pandey Ji – serving there for four generations of his. To know the real depth of this pool huge pumps and pipes have been places and people have returned from 80mtr saying that we can’t go deep than this. The administration had tried to pump out the water for 24 hours everything outside was blocked but the water was not dipping an inch also. They were amazed.

secret place bheemkund travel blogger

International sky drivers and researchers came to know the mystery they put the camera down and took pictures of somewhere around 200ft down and still did not got the ground layer. Another mystery is that if someone gets drowned in the water and dies – the body is undiscoverable. One cannot find the body of the person, usually, the body of the person floats on the water once dead, but here it vanished.

travel blogger

The archaeologists and the excavators have used their best methods to measure the depth of this Kund but none have succeeded so far. A few years ago a team from “Discovery channel” visited BheemKund and tried to calculate the depth of Kund but unable to do so.

Usually, when a man dies underwater, his body floats above the surface after his death. Whereas, the body once drowned in Bheemkund, never floats up and shockingly the body goes missing and can never be found back.

What you have to say about this mysterious place in #india Tell me in the comments below.

ShiviJanuary 29, 20216min8350

2020 has been particularly hard, and it has taught us some important lessons. How about stepping into 2021 with this checklist of how to stay content and feel happy? We think it’s a great plan!

Wake up early

It may sound alarming and awkward to many but it is the need of the hour

Start practising a routine for a healthy life. Practice a routine of sleeping on time and waking up at the same hour every day. Start your day with a positive mood. How about giving it a try huh!

Begin every morning with a smile

Just a smile for 10 secs maybe. You may think of  doing it while no one is around. It may sound funny, trust me to start the day with a smile is something will for sure work. Tell yourself it’s going to be a day full of happiness and contentment, and have a wide smile on your face. It might sound silly, but trust us, it will set the tone for the day ahead!

If possible start meditation

People who are not used of it and don’t know how to start, gear up for a minute. Start at least for a once guys it will help. In fact, research shows that our brain releases an anti-anxiety chemical called GABA when we practice meditation or yoga. A study in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found there is a 27 per cent increase in GABA levels after an hour of meditation.

Take up a habit of reading

I know I know many would say that if not possible because I can’t read a single page. I have language issues and many others would have other excuses for not reading. The biggest of them is the time. DO not worry, take out10 minutes’ start reading in whichever way you wish to and whatever you love to. Get a book from your favourite genre, slip into the quilt, and sip on some hot chocolate as you immerse yourself in a different world.

Last but not least -Give hugs and love

Spread more and more and more. When you hug a person, your body releases the cuddle chemical, oxytocin. That’s why you end up feeling happy! It is a hormone that is linked to social bonding, fostering trust and loyalty. Moreover, a hug also lowers your blood pressure and helps you release anxiety. So, hug away to glory.

Stay home for New Year 2021 – Home Celebrations

2021 Spirited Blogger

Amidst of the whole pandemic in 2020, the time has come when the world faced COVID across the globe. The devastation which this pandemic has brought to this world has not ended yet. The vaccines are deployed in certain parts, yet the effectiveness is due on to the authorities.

With lockdowns, mental health issues, insecurities, job loses and the entire havoc the world is ready to witness the new beginning of 2021. With fingers crossed, we are all set to bid adieu to 2020 and ring in the new year with renewed hopes of happiness and prosperity. However, several countries will witness tepid New Year celebrations as the risk of Covid-19 is not over yet. Here’s what you need to check for 2021.

Germany has banned the sale of fireworks

From New York’s Times Square to Sydney Harbor, big public blowouts have been turned into TV-only shows and digital events, reported The Associated Press.

Fireworks displays have been cancelled from the Las Vegas Strip to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Even private parties in some places are restricted.

Toughening the Covid-19 restrictions in parts of England owing to the “sheer pace” of the spread of a new variant of the virus, Prime Minister Boris Johnson Wednesday urged people to stay at home on New Year’s eve to contain the outbreak.

In India, Delhi has announced a night curfew on New Year’s eve restricting more than five people to assemble at a public place.

According to the order, no celebratory events, congregations and gatherings at public places are permitted from 11 pm of December 31 to 6 am of January 1, 2021.

Bengaluru, too, has imposed Section 144 from 6 pm of December 31 to 6 am of January 1, 2021.

In Maharashtra, while hotels, restaurants, pubs and bars will close at 11 pm and large gatherings are prohibited in public places, families can hold parties in residential places provided it is a small group and social distancing norms are maintained.

In Ahmedabad, the restrictions will be effective between 10 pm, Thursday 31st and 6 am Friday 1st Jan. The police has restricted hotels from hosting any late night parties on New Year Eve on Thursday.

On December 27, the Goa airport handled 72 arrivals and 72 departures with more than 11,000 passengers arriving and nearly an equal number departing, the highest traffic since the lock down and 85% of the pre-Covid levels.

We ready for you!

I just hope that this year bring ample love and kindness. May the world witness empathy and generosity in abundance. Be Blessed!

A rare sky show, Jupiter and Saturn will be as close as pinkie finger on 21st December

Team NASA has a surprise for you all. You all are excited for this Christmas, though it will not be the same for many due to Corona Pandemic. But the lore of the celebration will be cherished round the world. So what exactly is happening on the 21st of December 2020.

Alright, the guesses aren’t working and you must be thinking that Christmas is on 25th. Yeah, this year we would get a chance to enjoy a Christmas kiss under the moonlit on the 21st December – which is also named as “The Great Conjunction”.

Credits NASA Bill Ingalls

So what will happen on this day?

As the NASA Saturn and Jupiter will be the closet. last they were seen after sunset from Shenandoah National Park, Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020, in Luray, Virginia. And now they both are heading towards the great conjunction The two planets are drawing closer to each other in the sky as they head towards a “great conjunction” on December 21, where the two giant planets will appear a tenth of a degree apart.

In rare sky show, Jupiter and Saturn will nearly ‘touch’ on the winter solstice. On the night of December 21, stargazers will be in for a holiday treat as the two bright planets appear closer together than at any time in the past 400 years.

Where did it come from?

In 1610, Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei pointed his telescope to the night sky, discovering the four moons of Jupiter – Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. In that same year, Galileo also discovered a strange oval surrounding Saturn, which later observations determined to be its rings. These discoveries changed how people understood the far reaches of our solar system.

Thirteen years later, in 1623, the solar system’s two giant planets, Jupiter and Saturn, travelled together across the sky. Jupiter caught up to and passed Saturn, in an astronomical event known as a “Great Conjunction.” (Taken from Nasa.gov).

Credits Chakarin Wattanamongkol Getty Images

A delight for stargazers:

Every 20 years these two planets appear to pass each other in the solar system. But with this position, aligned in the sky comes about once in 20 years. What makes this year’s spectacle so rare, then? It’s been nearly 400 years since the planets passed this close to each other in the sky, and nearly 800 years since the alignment of Saturn and Jupiter occurred at night, as it will for 2020, allowing nearly everyone around the world to witness this “great conjunction.”

On the 21st, they will appear so close that a pinkie finger at arm’s length will easily cover both planets in the sky. The planets will be easy to see with the unaided eye by looking toward the southwest just after sunset. How?

Credits NASA JPL-Caltech

Follow the steps by NASA:
  • Find a spot with an unobstructed view of the sky, such as a field or park. Jupiter and Saturn are bright, so they can be seen even from most cities.
  • An hour after sunset, look to the southwestern sky. Jupiter will look like a bright star and be easily visible. Saturn will be slightly fainter and will appear slightly above and to the left of Jupiter until December 21, when Jupiter will overtake it and they will reverse positions in the sky.
  • The planets can be seen with the unaided eye, but if you have binoculars or a small telescope, you may be able to see Jupiter’s four large moons orbiting the giant planet.

Did you know that the world’s highest post office is in India in the Himalayas? It is the Hikkim Post Office, located in the Spiti Valley at the height of 4,400 metre, “where even mobile or internet fail to reach”.

Himalayas Blog

The most famous and the highest mountain range of India is the Himalayan range. It is also the youngest and the longest mountain range in India and has almost every largest peak of the world. The Himalayan mountain range bisects India from the rest of Asia and is the primary source of mighty rivers in India.

Himalayas

Do you know that 15% of the world’s population lives in the mountains? Therefore, the conservation of mountains is a crucial factor. Mountains are not only important for inhabitants but also for millions of people living in lowlands. They are the sources of the world’s major rivers and also play a crucial role in the water cycle.

Indian Himalayas

Though IndiaNepal, and Bhutan have sovereignty over most of the Himalayas, Pakistan and China also occupy parts of them. The Champa, Ladakhi, Balti, and Dard peoples live to the north of the Great Himalaya Range in the Kashmir Himalayas. The Dard speak Indo-European languages, while the others are Tibeto-Burman speakers.

Located in Gurgaon, it is a 10 miles’ kingdom like property for everyone who wishes to stay in solace and enjoy the genuine beauty of nature amidst the city’s hustle and bustle.

This beautiful place is just where nature meets luxury. We had a great time staying in the villa and get to explore the resort to the fullest. It is a lavish resort in Gurgaon and a treat to be there. For me, the best part of Karma Lakelands is a huge golf course. They have a 9-hole golf course with 18-hole experience with around over 200, 000 trees. This is spectacular and super soothing.

golf course 2

Their golf course has received an award of Eco-friendly golf course in 2016 for Golf digest. Area of the campus is approximately 300 acres and the one fact which amazed me a lot is that nearly 60% of ingredients are organic and sourced from our organic nursery. Isn’t this just splendid?

Our was a fantastic stay, and here’s what we have experienced at karma Lakelands:

We got villa 49, which is one of the best architecturally designed and built villas at Karma Lakelands. The view of the room is green and full of nature. You can spot a Neelcow and go fishes in the man-made lake near to the villa. If you also looking to unwind and rejuvenate yourself, then there is a mediation centre by Isha Foundation.

Adding more charm to the property they have luxury tents. Check the images below and you would understand what I’m trying to say.  These luxury tents have everything you need for your perfect stay. Comfortable beds, air conditioners, suitable and spacious bathrooms and all the view you need.

Last but not the least, the fantastic part of Karma Lakelands is organic farming and sustainable living which they are prompting by their property. In fact, one can learn about organic farming as well. They are using these organic products like vegetables in their cooking too.

Thanks to the entire team of Karma Lakelands for a wonderful staycation. Our gratitude to your staff who has to arrange a cake for our friend’s birthday. The cake made by the chef was scrumptious. Special mention to the butler Amin and Vikas, they were supportive and brilliantly helpful in decorating the room. The whole staff and management was friendly and warm hearted. Do visit it once, you would revisit again.

Navratri Celebration in Gujarat

One of the most awaited festivals in the colourful state of Gujarat is Navratri. Celebrated on the first nine days of Ashwin month, devotees keep fast for 9 days and worship Maa Shakti. In the evening, an earthen pot with holes and diyas inside, also known as “Garbi”, is lighted and women perform arti with it.

During Navratri, Garba dance and Dandiya Raas are popular forms of dances performed by both men and women, wearing their traditional dresses.

durga puja assam

In the eastern part of India, in the states of West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Bihar, Navratri is celebrated as Durga Puja and it is observed in the last four days of Navratri. These days are referred to as Saptami, Ashthami, Navami and Dashami. Durga Puja is the main festival of the people of West Bengal.

Durga-Puja1

Durga Puja is celebrated with great pomp and glitter in various parts of the states in big pandals, where large sized idols of Goddess Durga on her lion, demon Mahishasur, Lord Ganesha, Kartikeya and Goddess Laxmi and Saraswati are erected. Men and women come wearing their best colourful dresses. It is a very common sight to see Bengali women wearing their traditional red saree, decked up completely.

Navratri in assam

The sounds of Dhol, Dhak, Dhunuchi nachh, the fragrance of agarbattis fill the air with freshness and purity. The celebrations of Durga Puja in West Bengal should be “must-watch” for everyone once in his lifetime.

Navratri Celebration in Tamil Nadu

Navratri is also celebrated in Tamil Nadu as a religious celebration to seek the blessings of Goddess Durga, Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Saraswati in the nine special nights. These three goddesses are worshipped for three days each. Friends, relatives and neighbours are invited and clothes, jewelleries, sweets and other gifts are exchanged among them.

Kolu Tamil Nadu

One interesting feature as a part of the celebration is the decoration of the “Kolu” which is actually a staircase having 9 stairs, representing the 9 nights and each stair is decorated with beautiful dolls, and idols of gods and goddesses. It is said that the dolls that are used are handed over from generation to generation.

The “Kolu” celebration of Navratri in Tamil Nadu is celebrated as “Batukamma Panduga” in Andhra Pradesh, which means “Come Alive Mother Goddess”. The nine nights are dedicated to Goddess Shakti. Women make a beautiful flower stack known as “Batukamma”, which is arranged with seasonal flowers.

Women wear new saree and jewellery, perform puja in front of the Batukamma for 9 days and then on the last day they set afloat their Batukammas in a lake or any other water body.

Navratri Celebration in Kerala

In Kerala, Navratri is celebrated in the last three days and Keralites give importance to learning during these three days. They place books and musical instruments in front of Ma Saraswati’s idol on Ashtami, and worship the books and Ma Saraswati till Dashami. On Dashami, the books are taken out for reading.

Navratri Celebration in Karnataka

It is a strange fact that even today people in Karnataka celebrate the 9 nights of Navratri in the same manner as was celebrated way back in 1610 by the great Vijayanagara dynasty. Navratri is known as “Naada Habba” in Karnataka.

Karnataka navratri

The rituals include elephants’ procession on the streets, including fairs and exhibitions of handicrafts and artifacts.

Navratri Celebration in Maharashtra

The celebrations are similar to Gujarat. Navratri in Maharashtra implies new beginnings. Hence, purchasing of a home or a car or new business deals or engagement is very common during this time. Navratri Celebration in Himachal Pradesh

For the Hindus in Himachal Pradesh, Navratri is a great celebration. Here, the celebration starts on the tenth day of Navratri when the festival ends in other states.

Baijnath-Temple

People celebrate the tenth day, also known as “Kullu Dussehra” as the day of return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya. On this day, the idols from the temples are taken out in processions.

Navaratri India’s Nine-Day Festival | Nine Forms of Feminine Energy

The word Navaratri means ‘nine nights’ in Sanskrit, Nava meaning nine and Raatri meaning nights. It means nine nights of the feminine goddess that are worshipped in our culture since ages.

nine forms of durga

Navratri is a nine-day festival that celebrates the nine forms of goddess Durga. On each day of Navratri, a special colour is worn that is dedicated to a goddess and holds special significance.

The tenth day is celebrated as Vijayadashami or Dussehra when the idols of Goddess Durga are immersed into the water body. This is what we know about Navratri. And this what we have been celebrating since ages. What I wish to convey form this video is my perception and my understanding of these nine days.

I’m a firm believer of Shiv and Shakti. Durga Ma is also a form of Shiv+Shakti.

Navratri – 9 days of Feminine energy, nine days of the feminine divine goddess. Durga, Laxmi and Saraswati are three dimensions of feminine energies. They also represent tamas rajas and sattva these are basic qualities of human existence and its elements.

Navadurga

  • Tamas is the nature of the earth and literally means inertia
  • Rajas mean passion
  • Satva means breaking boundaries melting and merging

Navratri falls twice a year. Sharada Navaratri: the most celebrated of the four Navaratri, named after Sharada which means autumn. It is observed in the lunar month of Ashvin (post-monsoon, September–October). In many regions, the festival falls after the autumn harvest, and in others during harvest.

Vasanta Navaratri: the second most celebrated, named after Vasantha which means spring. It is observed in the lunar month of Chaitra (post-winter, March–April). In many regions, the festival falls after spring harvest, and in others during harvest

take a break

Facts

  1. Around 1 in 5 of the world’s children and adolescents have a mental disorder. – WHO

2.     Depression is one of the leading causes of disability, affecting 264 million people. – WHO

3.     Almost 800 000 people die by suicide every year; 1 person dies from suicide every 40 seconds. Suicide is the second leading cause of death in individuals aged 15-29 years.  -WHO

4.     Around 1 in 9 people in settings affected by conflict have a moderate or severe mental disorder. – WHO

5.     Less than half of the 139 countries that have mental health policies and plans report having these aligned with human rights conventions.  -WHO

5 signs of mental illness

Long-lasting sadness or irritability.

Extremely high and low moods.

Excessive fear, worry, or anxiety.

Social withdrawal.

Dramatic changes in eating or sleeping habits.

While a “traditional” mental health day generally includes taking a day off from work, it’s not necessary to call in sick to take a day to focus on stress relief. Everyone has to deal with varying levels of stress. This can be particularly difficult to manage if you also have symptoms of depression or anxiety. When you feel like your stress levels have reached their peak, it might be time to take a quick break to reset.

Knowing what you can expect to get out of a mental health day is important. It’s important to remember that it isn’t a day to hide from your problems.

An effective mental health day can help you:

  • Destress
  • Get a handle on your emotions
  • Relax
  • Reset your perspective
  • Rest
  • Take a step back to evaluate

Things NOT to Do

  • Avoid friends and family
  • Smoke, drink, or use other substances
  • Overeat unhealthy foods
  • Ruminate or wallow in negative emotions
  • Spend all day reading posts on social media

While one day off may not by itself cure burnout, a mental health day can definitely provide you with a much-needed (and well-deserved) break. A mental health day can be useful on occasion, but you should also strive to make your mental health a priority every day.

Words from my journal – Poem

My kind of mental health

Uplift yourself

Don’t be shy to say that I’m not ok

Don’t push yourself too much into other’s shoes

Don’t quit

Quitting is not an option at all

The healing begins only when you accept that

You are hurt

You would not called weak

If you cry

Even sky cries

And it is brave enough

Lit your light within you

Which is in you

Believe that it is okay

And everything will be okay

So what this small blog all about.

I got an opportunity to have a luxurious staycation at Le Meridien during the COIVD times. Yes, do not worry folks, it was all safe and we are safe. A home away from away experience we witness for 2 nights and 3 days at Le Meridien hotel Delhi.

They offer a variety of selective villas and suites as per your taste. Our team was lucky to have the best of the rooms out here. For sure this property is for people who love to enjoy finer things in life while travelling.

Spirited Blogger Le Meridien

I had a short stay, but was fulfilling. When we all are facing tough times because of the pandemic, getting this one was bliss for our team. Needless to mention that the entire staff was well prepared about all the safety measures as per the Government guidelines. Apart from this, the team ensured to maintain social distancing and hygiene in all perspectives. They also comply with the food standards and new food safety guidelines of FSSAI.

Le Meridien Delhi Lounge

The time from the arrival until we checked out everything was in place and this is not just to write a blog for. I mean it. They were all prepared. Right from the arrival where our luggage was to be sanitized, and we needed to go through thermal temperature scanning, to our mobile check-in, all guest service delivery standards are as per the new normal was taken care of.

Presedential suite 3

The rooms are minimalistic and are offering a diverse array of new amenities that will include sanitizers, wipes, masks and contactless menus. They have also ensured cleaning all high and low touch points after regular intervals. And are maintaining the highest standard of hygiene and safety in their restaurants, where one now order from their device and pay electronically.

Our staycation package was an ideal one and allowed us to have a much-needed retreat from the monotonous routine. What else you would ask for in COVID times? They are also offering 50% off on kids’ room. Overall, it can be the best choice for your family and friends to hang out for a short period or maybe for a longer duration. The packages are quite satisfying inclusive all the major amenities for a luxury hotel to endure.

We had one Presidential suite, which was superfluously spacious and modern interiors. The interiors are subtle and soothing to your mood.

There are 3 bathrooms in presidential suite. They are luxurious with stunning bathtubs and ample space to spend good time.

For a foodie like me, I enjoyed almost everything from Mexican to Indian. From Italian to desserts, the food is delicious. Their biryani, dosa, French fries, parathas, pasta, sandwiches were good to taste. We ordered all the food in the room only due to safety measures.

Although we did not find much variety of food due to pandemic but they arranged some mouth-watering food. If you are there, do not miss the Nero Bar that has 3D effect lightings to amaze you and enjoy disco and bar. Longitude is their coffee shop and ONE is their restaurant.

Delhi is known for its rich history of kings and empires. With queens, nizams, and the lords Delhi is known for its hospitality and rich culture. Owing to this Delhi’s hotel industry is also one of the flourishing ones in India.

Delhi is blessed to have superbly decorated and lavish hotels. One such is Radisson Blu, which is located near to Delhi airport and endowed with the beautiful and luxurious property.

Radisson Delhi

We took this opportunity to have a staycation  at Radisson with our teammates. Our stay was the most comfortable and unique in its own way. How? During the COVID times, people are scared to move out and as per the government norms and lockdown procedures, the hotels and retreats are not opening. But Radisson Blu is one of the hotels which is operational in Delhi during the pandemic situation.

Covid Ready

Thus, with the new normal, our stay in Radisson Blu was of 2 nights and 3 days. We would like to tell you that, the hotel is sufficiently sanitized and disinfected.

Radisson blu team Delhi

At the entrance, we were sanitised and were checked for the temperature. We were fumigated and all the other staff maintained sufficient social distancing.

Covid Precautions

Apart from this the other forms and formalities were executed by the management to complete the COVID Pandemic guidelines.

We had booked 2 rooms. One Presidential suite & another junior suite. Both the rooms were spacious, lavish and chic in décor and styling. We were welcomed with soothing Mock-tail. The Presidential Suite is very spacious with 2 bathrooms, dining room, pantry and a master bedroom.

The room

The decor of the room is elegant & classy. Also, on asking for housekeeping, they literally sanitised each & every corner of the room. Since it was the birthday weekend of one of our teammate, they even surprised me by decorating my room with balloons & flowers. The staff of the hotel is very polite and welcoming.

The room radisson plaza

On our first night, we had our Dinner from their Restaurant NYC. It’s a multi-cuisine restaurant. Due to COVID situation, Alcohol is not being served in the hotels. We ordered snacks: Galouti kebabs, Mushroom kebabs & Chinese Starters like veg Manchurian, fish, papaya salad & in the main course we ordered from Indian cuisine like Dal Tadka, Paneer Makhni, khichri etc.

Deserts were delicious we ordered Ice cream, Gulab jamun & Ras malai. Food is too delightful, in Radisson Blu. We missed the Kebab Factory. Hope it opens soon.

Coffee shop

Next Day, we switched our room to Junior Deluxe Suite. This room is relatively smaller than Presidential Suite, but it’s really nicely done & simple luxurious room. We ordered our breakfast in, with the omelette, milkshake, poori bhaji, South Indian delicacies, coffee etc. we took a property tour & had our Lunch and Dinner at NYC. The food at NYC is mouth-watering.

radisson blu resturant

The main reason for stay Radisson Blu is the food. Staff at the hotel celebrated my birthday at the restaurant too, they were sweet enough to wish me with an amazing cake which we cut together. That was admittedly a very thoughtful gesture. Although Gym & Spa were shut due to COVID 19.

Vote of Thanks for the Team:

Chef Sheenu Thanks for wonderful Cake. And Mrs Simmi Sood PR Marketing Radisson Blu, was always there attending us & made our stay commendable & comfortable. The hospitality is remarkable over here. Mr Anuj Soin F&B Director made sure we had the best food possible during our stay.

The team radisson blu

And thanks to the entire team of a Radisson Blu Mahipalpur for being such gracious Hosts.

Thank you to the entire team at Radisson Blue for attending us so warmly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

And look forward to visiting again.

Book Name – The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck

Author Name – Mark Mansion

Spirited Blogger - Subtle Art of not giving a F*ck

This is a self help book which has experiences of the author who tried to fit it with simple words and have tried to put it in perspective of taking people out of shit. If you are in some sort of shit and need some mental or physical help then this book can do wonders for you. Most of the things you might be knowing or heard about it, however the way its been told in this book is appealing. I loved the fact that author has tried to make connection with the audience by giving simple and realistic examples from day to day life and make us understand that we all have some or the other way has done some or the other shit, till what time we will stick to it. Its time now to give f*ck to it and move on.

An assurance in this regard was given today (May 27) to a travel trade delegation by Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of State (I/C) for Tourism and Culture.

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, is hopeful of opening Himachal and Ladakh for domestic tourism as soon as the safety and hygiene protocols are ready. An assurance in this regard was given today (May 27) to a travel trade delegation by Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of State (I/C) for Tourism and Culture. A decision to this effect will be taken in consultation with the states soon, the minister informed the delegation.

The delegation included Presidents of IATOADTOIATOAI and OTOAI. “The Minister informed us that Himachal and Ladakh will be opened for tourists as soon as the states grant permission,” said Captain Swadesh Kumar, President of Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI). “We want all the destinations, which are relevant to Adventure Tourism, like Himachal, Uttarakhand, Leh Ladakh, and the Northeastern States to be opened as early as possible,” he said.

Kumar said that the delegation has assured the government that they would all co-operate on following safety and hygiene protocols. The government is in the process of framing a comprehensive Covid-19 hygiene protocol and the same will be ready in a week’s time, he said.
