Book Review on If We last – Sailing Through Dark Beyond The Light-Years⠀
Author – @ishita__banik

This book revolves around 2 characters, Avipsa and Reyansh. Avipsa is a college student and has got a couple of good job offers and waiting to join one of the big notches and Reyansh is a working professional who has lost interest in life as he has broken up with his girlfriend (Mahika). He keeps on missing her. The story revolves around how these two people, on how they met and how Avipsa helped Reyansh come out of his sort of depression. There is a twist that is being added to the story where it is mentioned that someone stalks Avipsa and in the end, she recognizes who that person is, though you have to read the second part of the novel to know about that. It is an interesting one though. I loved the plot and the thrill which we read between the lines. ⠀
My rating 3 Star. ⠀

Critic Review –

Personally, I feel there is a huge scope of improvement in terms of writing and grammar. At a couple of places, you will find spelling mistakes as well. I found out a lot of loopholes in this. I’m not criticising the writer here, but the editing and proofreading need improvement. The writer’s story is nice and engaging. The author has tried to use the best of vocabulary though, which was needed, at some places it is overstuffed. I’m not being harsh to the writer and the team but it could have much better for the readers to get hooked. Looking forward to reading a good one next time. ⠀

The book is all about Arjun’s journey to achieve his dreams and aspirations.

The illegitimate dollar is a novel that has thrill, mystery, emotions and the fight to be right and achieves right in life. But everything comes with a cost, and this is shown in a mysterious manner in this novel. This is written by Atul Sharma my friend, being the first novel and that to a mystery thriller I must say it takes guts to do so. Congratulations 🥳

Start the day strong

Characters – Arjun and Sameera are in the main lead and the whole story revolves around them. Then you can see Ranjeet, Bunty and Steve who come along in the novel as strangers but had some or other connection associated. These characters make the story a thrill and a bit cumbersome at some places, but they keep you intact for suspense to unveil.

Critic Review – The story is simple but had a lot of twists and turns, but the sequence keeps the suspense open and makes me read more. But certain incidences when Sameera was attacked by goons and Arjun saved her, and when Arjun was arrested by police out of nowhere…etc. are planned nicely and well written to grip the story further.

These situations are written well, and create suspense to linger on. The climax is amazing but if you are keen on reading mystery thrillers or fiction then you may predict it in the last few chapters.
Although I feel a cover photo can be a bit more appealing, a well-tried one.

My ratings – 4/5

Overall a book to read for the love of fantasy, mystery and thriller…

tungnath chopta highest temple

Yes, this is true – Tungnath is one of the highest Shiva temples in the world and is the highest of the five Panch Kedar temples located in the mountain range of Tunganath in Rudraprayag district, in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The Tunganath (literal meaning: Lord of the peaks) mountains form the Mandakini and Alaknanda river valleys. It is located at an altitude of 3,680 m (12,073 ft), and just below the peak of Chandrashila. The temple is assumed to be 5000 years old and is the third (Tritiya Kedar) in the pecking order of the Panch Kedars. It has a deep legend linked to the Pandavas, heroes of the Mahabharata epic as well. It is built of solid granite slabs, and also resembles the ancient temple of Bageshwar and Jageshwar.

What is unique about this temple

The distinctive feature of this beautiful attraction is its location amidst magnificent mountain ranges and spiritual importance which has been drawing millions of Hindu pilgrims from around the world in the last five years. It is a phenomenal place to visit wonderfully for the adventure lovers out there for they are going to have a great time trekking to reach the temple. It is an excellent combination of spirituality, majesty, and tranquillity thereby making it a sure-shot and an ideal getaway for all the travellers.

The architecture of Tunganath Temple

The affluent temple is made up of stones embellished with decorations that are coated on the outside paintings of the tall towers. There is a wooden stage exactly on top of the highest dome which also has sixteen openings. The roof of the temple is formed of stone slabs and at the entrance lays a stone image of Nandi facing towards the idol of Lord Shiva. There is an image of Lord Ganesha also on the right side of the temple gate.

Inside the main chamber lies the ashtadhatu which is comprised of eight metals, idols of saint Vyas and Kala Bhairav and the followers of Lord Shiva. There are images of the Pandavas and four other Kedar shrines inside the temple as well. At the end of the trek path of Tungnath, the opening door of the temple is marked with the presence of the name ‘Tungnath’ painted atop an archway which has recently been constructed.

shivratri tungnath temple

When does the temple open

It opens when the Char Dhams of Uttrakhand opens up during April or May every year during Vaisakh Panchmi on the date that is decided by the Badro Kedar Temple Committee on Baisakhi. Although before planning to come here, make sure you inquire with your travel agent about the route, etc. Remember the temple is closed during the winter season after Diwali, and the image of the deity is moved to Mukunath which lies 19 km away from Tungnath by the temple priests during this time.

  • Film: Love Aaj Kal (2020)
  • Genre: Romance
  • Rating: 3\5
  • Director: Imtiaz Ali
  • Cast: Kartik Aaryan, Sara Ali Khan, Arushi Sharma, Randeep Hooda

love aaj kal movie review

Imtiaz Ali revisits his 2009 hit ‘Love Aaj Kal’, even grasping the same title, format, and even several similar descriptions. As he did a decade ago, Ali has again decided to look at two parallel love stories, set in two contrasting eras. However, the stories are modern, and the conflicts of love appear fresh too. And completely, we see the contradiction between small-town love that is difficult and an urban version of love that can be immeasurably more messed-up and true today as well.

love aaj kal review

‘Love Aaj Kal’ sets off to glorify the complex characters and love relationships which we see all around us. The dysfunctional relationships, which has the universal emotion of love at its core. It creates some emotional sequences which are must watch and you could relate to it. Apart from this, it will not leave you spellbound.

To my surprise – Randeep Hooda steals the show, it is not because I’m biased of my love towards him, but he nailed the movies. The full attention in some moments was on him and only him. Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan were not bad though. Sara for me did a fabulous job and she has full potential to emerge as a detailed star in the line of Alia Bhatt. Kartik in this movie I felt on an average front. The love stories are contemporary, and the struggles of love appear fresh too. The grief and the disputes in love on and off are modern but have a feeling of love as its core.

love aaj kal

The leading lady Zoe (Khan) is the manifestation of the latter. A young, urban lady, she wants a no-strings-attached relationship. She’s even drawn up a five-year plan, time in which she will concentrate on starting her event management firm before settling down for responsibility. Khan is a dynamic personality on screen and looks astounding beautiful too, but her execution lacks the complexity (sometimes) which the role needs, with the result that you don’t really connect with Zoe as well (though she has the potential).

In the film, Aaryan has to go from being a lovelorn small-town boy to a big-city lover boy, and he picks this off convincingly. Debutante Arushi Sharma also makes a fine first film. But the show-stealer is Hooda who looks dapper in a vintage role. More than the contemporary tale of love and longing, it’s this thread that makes the film more likeable.

Travel Blog Winter Spiti

hikkim kibber spiti valley

As the name is unique so does the place. Spiti Valley is a mesmerizing place for nomads and travel enthusiasts all across the globe. As unique as its name, a trip to Spiti Valley is an experience of the ultimate abandoned beauty! Separated from breeding Lahaul by the soaring 4551m Kunzum La, the Himalayan region of Spiti is another piece of Tibet marooned in India. While this region stays cut off from the rest of the world in October to February, you can visit Spiti from March to May to enjoy the snow-clad mountains of this sumptuous cold desert. That is precisely what this blog is about – Yes Winter Spiti- White Spiti. what our Winter Edition

Moonscapes to Marvels of Spiti Valley

Diverged villages in a saw-toothed moon land appear like mirages on the road to Spiti valley. Roads like these will make you overlook any other scenery you’ve ever seen. The whitewashed and snow-covered, mud-brick houses dwell into the local heritage. These houses look marvellous from the viewpoint of Key Monastery. And when they all covered with snow it is like a white wonderland.

Rediscovering The Ancient Spiti

Spiti Valley is the place to rejoice the love for long lost things. This could be sending a postcard from the highest post office in the World, or go fossil hunting in the villages of Spiti. One such fossil village-Langza embraces you with a life-size golden statue of Buddha. The sedimentary rocks of this village cover the remains of plants & marine life which are millions of years old. Go see for yourself if you’re lucky enough to spot one! I was lucky to have found one.

Variation in Beauty

Contrary to all shades of grey and white, a turquoise ribbon of the Spiti River will coincide you as your near-constant escort, speeding along a deep valley before turning south at Sumdo into the craggy gorges of the Hangrang Valley. Spiti fascinates many travellers, including a huge bunch of Indian motorcyclists, as a kind of ‘mini-Ladakh without tourist crowds’. This title is justified until its serene nature (a high-altitude desert) and culture (Tibetan Buddhist) are still intact. For this, we all need to be a responsible traveller and whoever visits Spiti Valley, please take care of littler, carbon footprints and strictly no plastics.

Things to Remember

Who all planning to travel Spiti Valley in winters, please have a look at the tips below and the temperature as certain areas can be nerve crunching.

It gets very cold here in winters i.e. December through February with temperatures hitting – 30C to -35C. You will need to be mentally and physically fit and must have done some high altitude travel to be able to manage travelling through this high altitude region.

Majorly you will get only homestays in winters and the hotels and guest houses will be shut. These homestays will have dry eco-friendly squatting toilets. You will need to equip with this system as due to water freezing and water lines freezing wet toilets are not available.

Because of the water lines freezing, the locals have a hard time carrying water for utilities from a close water source and therefore having a bath while you are in Spiti will not be possible.

spiti valley

In peak winter i.e. January and early February, all the places might not be open due to unfavourable weather conditions. Thus, whatever you are able to visit take it as an opportunity to explore the place.

Wintertime is actually not a season time to visit Spiti Valley thus you will not get a variety of activities and things to do in cold weather. at times you will not be able to move around much and will have to end up in the homestay. That is why I would recommend travellers to be prepared and make the most of the destination whilst enjoying snow everywhere.

Being in a homestay you can make most of the time talking to locals, knowing the Spitian culture, food and much more. You can be with the host and can understand the local food culture.

Be prepared to be empathetic and adaptable, as due to weather last minutes’ plan changes can happen or you can be forced to change your plans due to safety measures.

Countrywide CAA & NRC Protests – Right or Wrong?

A lot is going in India in the last few days in the name of CAA or NRC or JNU violence. Let me make my point clear in this blog neither I am supporting nor I am against this. It is just my thought which I want to put in front of people who are so-called literates and are supporting or talking against this policy without knowing about it is i.e. what it is, which government has introduced and passed as a bill.

CAA stands for Citizen Amendment act where the government has allowed people who are Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhist, Jains, and Parsis who are living in India from long but has entered in our country before Dec 31, 2014, can apply for Indian citizenship and no more have to be in India as refugees. They will be given citizenship in India as per this new bill.

It is being said that when there was partition which happened in 1947 and at that time some of the Hindus decided to stay back in so-called Pakistan never got their right and came to India and are staying here from long but since there was no law and order in India where they can gain citizenship of the country. So this law is just an amendment to that and I feel it is right in a way for all those who are being stranded and away from their native land. On the other hand, why is the provision only to people of six religions, and not Muslims, and why does it refer only to people coming from these three countries? The Union government insists that people of these six faiths have faced persecution in these three Islamic countries, Muslims haven’t. It is, therefore, India’s moral responsibility to shelter them.

caa nrc protest

Is it right or wrong?

Well, to be honest, we are listening to a lot about it that it is going to take the fundamental right of one community and then people have to leave from here since they belong to other religions and what not – the saga continues. Whatever I have read and understood there is no mention that people who are a citizen of this country have to leave. The only thing which is mentioned in this act is that more people can come and stay in our country. Well, they were already staying in our country and maybe part of us in some or the other way which we might not be knowing.

On the contrary….

The other aspect of this is our country is already overburdened with the population and due to the bursting population, there is an impact on jobs, growth, literacy and everywhere. Now once these people if given a citizen to our country things are going to worsen as they will get all the fundamental rights which citizen of a country gets, which is not correct for the citizens who are already enjoying their rights as Indian citizens. Another thing which I think will happen is creating bogus documents proving that you are staying in India and part of this country before Dec 31, 2014, which is the cut off date to gain citizenship. One can imagine the level of corruption and forgery increasing in India, which already is at its high levels.

NRC – NRC stands for the National Register of Citizens and it identifies illegal immigrants in Assam which is done on the order of the Supreme court. After CAA was passed and made as a bill there is demand from a lot of people to make it implemented across India, though nothing has been confirmed about this.

caa nrc support

If it is implemented across India I think it will be good for our country, why and how?

When we go to any country be it the US or London or even a small place like Singapore. We need to get proper documents and prove our identity to that country and then we are allowed to keep the foot on their land. If someone is living in our country and if asked to prove his identity which in the case of a legitimate person can easily do. In case you as an individual are a migrant and living illegally in any country I don’t think so any country will allow you to stay over since you not only use resources of the country but also take jobs and will be ready to work at any cost as you just need money for survival.

If the proper job is not available, then these people might do wrong things which can affect countries’ image and can affect a country’s economy in a lot of different ways. So my take would be we should at least give a thought as to why we should oppose proving our identity in our own country. Just because it is our country we should not prove but if we are going to another country and ready to do that then it is wrong.

caa nrc india

Whatever happened in 1947 was that right? I don’t think so. This should not happen with anyone at any point of time in life. But to make something right we should not do something wrong as two wrongs cannot make right either. I would suggest people make an informed decision. Be aware of what it is and how it is going to impact. Even if you want to protest against it or in favour of the bill I please request don’t let other people suffer who are not taking part in it, not because they don’t want to, but maybe they are not able to due to their other responsibilities.

Disclaimer: Your voice is being heard and will be taken, till then keep watching this space for more write-ups from our guest bloggers. This article does not support any kind of political agenda or written in motive to support any political party of issue. It is merely an expression on the author on the bill passed and its outcomes. WHO Declares Global Coronavirus Emergency

The United States told its citizens not to travel to China in the first major reply to the World Health Organization’s announcement of a global emergency over the growing coronavirus. As Chinese authorities recorded the latest numbers of the death toll on Monday to be 310 and nearly 10,000 infections spread. Another 102,000 people were under medical investigation in China with likely to have symptoms of the respiratory ailment. The pathogen is thought to have emerged in a Wuhan market that was crowded and was wild due the Lunar New Year holiday season. During these time hundreds of millions of Chinese travel at home or abroad for celebration.

cronovirus death tool rises

Let’s know exactly what is a coronavirus?

Let’s keep it simple and straight so that you guys shall not be misled and thoron with any wrong information. A coronavirus is a kind of common virus that creates an infection in your nose, sinuses, or upper throat. Most coronaviruses are not critical. But some types of coronaviruses are dangerous, though. About 858 people have died from Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), which first developed in 2012 in Saudi Arabia and then in other countries in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe.

coronavirus found

In April 2014 (according to WHO report) the first American was hospitalized for MERS in Indiana and another case was recorded in Florida. Both had just returned from Saudi Arabia. In May 2015, there was an outpouring of MERS in Korea, which was the biggest outbreak outside of the Arabian Peninsula. In 2003, 774 people died from severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) fury. As of 2015, there were no further reports of cases of SARS recorded.

coronavirus spread countries

But In early 2020, the world once again faced the epidemic like a virus following a December 2019 outbreak in China. Thus, the World Health Organization classified a new type, 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV). Often a coronavirus causes upper respiratory infection symptoms like a stuffy nose, cough, and sore throat. But you can treat them with rest and over-the-counter medication. The coronavirus can also induce middle ear infections in children.

What to do then…

You can take lab tests, including nose and throat cultures and blood work, to find out whether your cold was produced by a coronavirus, but there’s no reason to worry okay. Yes the outbreak is deadly and it is causing deaths as well, but cured on time and detected can help save lives. The test results wouldn’t change later on how you treat your symptoms, which typically go away in a few days. But if a coronavirus infection spreads to the lower respiratory tract (your windpipe and your lungs), it can give pneumonia, particularly in older people, people with heart disease, or people with relapsed immune systems.

prevention coronavirus

Tips to prevent – (on the advice grounds of WHO)

  • Do the same things you do to avoid the common cold
  • Wash your hands completely with soap and warm water or with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Keep your hands and fingers continuously away from your eyes, nose, and mouth, use tissue papers or soft cloth.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are infected. It can spread, especially if you children in the house or around.
  • Other than this treat a coronavirus infection the same way you treat a cold, like:
  • Take full rest, please don’t to work or house chores, give your body fully rest.
  • Drink fluids, lots of liquids are recommended in the form of juices, water etc.
  • Take over-the-counter (SOS) medicine for a sore throat and fever. But don’t give aspirin to children or teens younger than 19; use ibuprofen or acetaminophen alternately.
  • A humidifier or steamy shower (warm water) can also help ease a sore and scratchy throat.

Please be safe and healthy, do not respond or listen to hoax news or WhatsApp videos which are dangerous and spreading rumours. Please trust genuine information and prevention health tips from WHO or recognised doctors and health organisation.

Leave your comments below if wanted to know more on this, I will keep you updated or you can go to WHO website for help. Also, read more about Corona Virus.

Street Dancer 3D Movie Review

London streets swarming with local hip hop and street dancers is what the dancer’s life is. And to witness it to the fullest this movie can be a catch for you. The dancers wiggling to the wild beats this the chord of street dancer 3d. This movie is an elaborate celebration of dance.

street dancer 3d review english

Storyline – Street Dancer 3D Movie Review

So how does the story goes – it starts with two arch-rivals – Inayat (Shraddha Kapoor) and Sahej (Varun Dhawan). These two are the captains of two strong dance teams – Rule Breakers and Street Dancers, respectively. In order to prove their mastery over one another, both the bands lock horns in a top-notch dance competition. But, their individual outlook towards life and the situations going around them drastically change their threads and eventually they both fought as one team.

Plot – Street Dancer 3D Movie Review

3 D Street Dancer

Plot – Street Dancer 3D, is set in London and directed by Remo D’Souza. It delivers a superfluity of raucous callisthenics which are exasperated by a storyline that revolves wildly between the laughable and the hypocritical circumstances. On the other hand, I’m not going further to plot which swivels around a pacifist theme that pulls off the plight of the illegal immigrants from the subcontinent (irrespective of their home country) languishing in the UK.

The animosity starts from the zeal to do something different. Although both the gangs have their own fan base still wish to do something different and prove their best dancing skills. What starts off as a simple tiff between two opponents, it takes the form of something huge than themselves. Then in the story comes one of the grandest dance challenges in the world. Originally a dance flick, ‘Street Dancer 3D’ also encapsulates the moral maturity of a pack of skilled dancers – both on stage and the bigger theatrics that is life.

Dance & Art – Street Dancer 3D Movie Review

The choreographer-turned-writer/director Remo – has really pumped up the dancing skills and styles of dancing and forms in this movie. The presentation of various dance forms – Jazz, Contemporary, Afro, Krump, Locking and Popping, Animation Tutting, Urban and Slow Mo. – and has even aptly managed to rope in some very impeccable performers from the world of street dancers and underground hip hop dancers. In fact, with her top knot, big hair, a profusion of sassy and flawless dancing, Nora Fatehi as Mia turns out to be quite a discovery and exhibits the charm of a glam diva. Other than Shradhha and Varun’s attractive representation of desi-at-heart NRIs, the duo has worked relentlessly hard on their attitudes and overall dance moves, and it shows on screen as well. Apart from being surrounded by talented professional dancers, they were good. The 3d effects I feel were overdoing as there was not much need for these effects in the whole movie except a few dance numbers. Prabhudeva’s revamped version of ‘Muqabla’ stirs old memories and is a moment to watch out for.

The Chinese New year is commemorated on the first day of the First Moon of the lunar calendar. The analogous date in the solar calendar modifies from as early as January 21st to as late as February 19th. Chinese New Year, as the Western New Year, implied turning over a new leaf. Culturally, it is a time for family reunions, and for visiting friends and relatives. This holiday, more than any other Chinese holiday, is emphasised on the influence of family ties. The Chinese New year’s Eve dinner meeting is among the most significant family occasions of the year.

Sweeping of the Grounds

Arrangements for the Chinese New Year in old China starts well in advance of the New Year’s Day. The 20th of the Twelfth Moon is all set aside for the annual housecleaning or the “sweeping of the grounds“. Every corner of the house must be swept and cleaned in preparation for the new year like it is in India during Diwali Festival. SpringCouplets, written in black ink on large upright scrolls of red paper, are put on the walls or on the sides of the gate-ways. These couplets, short poems, and other inscriptions are written in Classical Chinese and are expressed of good wishes for the family in the coming year. In addition, symbolic flowers and fruits are also used to illuminate the house, and colourful new year pictures (NIAN HUA) are placed on the walls.

Interesting huh! read 10 facts about Chinese New Year.

Chinese New Year Is Also Known As The Spring Festival

In China, the new year is called chunjie (春节), which means ‘Spring Festival’. Although it is still wintertime in China, it is termed the ‘Spring Festival’ as it signifies the end of the coldest days of winter, which is a symbol of the coming spring season.

Chinese New Year Does Not Have A Set Date

The Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) is based on the Lunar Calendar during the full moon phase between 1st January and 15th January. Nevertheless, when it is measured using the Gregorian (solar) calendar, the Chinese New Year may fall anywhere from 21st January to 20th February. For example, in the year 2020, the Chinese New Year will fall on the 25th of January.

It Is A Day For Praying To Gods And Fighting Off Monsters

The Spring Festival in China started as a day to pray to Gods for a good reaping season and to ward-off any mishap. As much of the country was profoundly dependent on agriculture, the harvest was everything and God had to be gratified by way of advancing the best foods in a religious tradition.

As per an old-fashioned myth, however, the festival began after one brave little boy fought-off a monster named Nian (年) using firecrackers. The next day, people celebrated their endurance by setting off even more firecrackers. And that system became a significant part of the Spring Festival.

The Most Fireworks Are Set Off In The World That Night

As per the ancient myth (see above point), firecrackers are deemed to scare-off monsters and bad luck. So on the eve of the Chinese New Year, people set off firecrackers at night and follow it up with more firecrackers in the morning to welcome the new year and good luck. However, the officials have started to crack down on this system by banning fireworks, due to elevated levels of air pollution and growing concerns about global warming and the health and safety of residents in as many and 500 cities of China. Beijing had banned fireworks for 13 years. The ban was lifted in 2006 to please the angry public – this also happens.

It Is The Longest Chinese Holiday

The Spring Festival continues for 16 days including New Year’s Eve. However, as the celebration is based on the Lunar calendar, the holiday season can begin as early as in December with the Laba Festival (腊八节—là bā jié) which would give it around 40 days of celebrations! So in the arrangement, people will buy nian huo (年货), (New Year’s products) and stalk up on cooking supplies, gifts, new clothes, etc. before the New Year festival commences.

The Spring Festival Causes The Largest Human Migration In The World

As described earlier, it is tradition to spend the Chinese New Year with your family and everyone goes back to their parents and loved ones for a family gathering.

No Showering, Sweeping Or Throwing Out Of Garbage Allowed!

As the Spring Festival is all about carrying good luck and warding off sinister and bad luck, showering isn’t allowed on New Year’s Day and sweeping and thrusting out the garbage isn’t allowed before the 5th day. This is to make sure you don’t wash away the good luck! On the other hand, there’s a day before the Spring Festival devoted to cleaning. This day is to sweep the bad luck away and make room for the good. Most hair salons are closed throughout the whole of the Chinese New Year because cutting har is taboo during that time.

Children Receive Lucky Money In Red Envelopes

It wouldn’t be much of a festival without gifts being reciprocated. Gifts are exchanged during the Spring Festival, though, children also receive money in red envelopes as a representation of transferring good fortune from the seniors to the children. These red envelopes or pockets are also exchanged between bosses and employees, co-workers, and friends.

Chinese New Year Ends With The Lantern Festival

The first full moon of the (lunar) year is the Yuanxiao Festival (元宵节—yuán xiāo jié) or Lantern Festival (灯节—dēng jié). Though the family is still relevant, it’s still a night of partying and leisure. In ancient times, girls weren’t allowed to move outside by themselves. But on this night, they are free to take strolls, moon-gaze and look at the gorgeous lanterns. Because of this, it’s also known as Valentine’s Day in China.

The New Year Greeting In Chinese Is “Xin Nian Kuai Le”

The expression literally means “Happy New Year.” But in Hong Kong and other Cantonese-speaking countries, it’s more common to say “gong hei fat choy.” In Mandarin Chinese, it’s “gong xi fa cai” (恭喜发财). It implies “congratulations on the fortune.”

Tanhaji Movie Review: The Unsung Warrior appeared to engage audiences on a larger scale and delivered a solid action-drama instead.

Tanhaji Movie Review

The Trailer of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior was an aversion. With its references to ‘aurat ka ghoonghat’ and ‘brahman ka janeu,’ and its bold proclamation about Tanaji Malusare’s capture of Kondhana fort being a ‘surgical strike,’ it appeared like yet another hyper-masculine exercise playing on the toxic pseudo-nationalist fervour that has grasped our nation. (Plus, Ajay Devgn can spell his name and his ‘film’ production company any way he wants, but in our history books, the warrior’s name has constantly been spelt as ‘Tanaji’.)

Regrettably, big Hindi films appear to be the most comfortable item to pull into a useless political controversy. Tanhaji also got into one because of the film it was released with Deepika Padukone’s Meghna Gulzar directorial Chhapaak. The two films were automatically pitted as judgments against each other depending on who you side with politically.

Tanhaji Move review

The most striking features of the film are its action. It has, by a distance, some of the best-choreographed action sequences in a Hindi film ever. It has also been shot rather well by Japanese cinematographer Keiko Nakahara. (She also shot the Sonakshi Sinha-starrer Noor, which has gained current-day Mumbai better than most films in recent times.) The film has frequently been shot on green screen sets, which shows. But it does not jar and looks better in 3D. (I watched the film in 3D, and saw the trailer on the big screen a few days earlier in 2D.)

Massively inspired by the action in Zack Snyder’s 300 in terms of style, but given its unique spin in terms of shot-taking and combining the action with the story, the film does not overdo its set-pieces, spacing them out with the plot and its dramatic graph. Whenever they are used, they are administered well, with the ones in the climax of the film being quite innovative, reflecting that Tanaji was indeed known for being adept at innovative guerrilla warfare.

Saif ali khan movie review

The film also takes into account the fact Shivaji had nothing against Islam as a religion. His grouse was toward the rule of the Mughal empire, which he struggled with all his might, inspiring thousands of others to fight for their freedom. Indeed, the Maratha society and army under Shivaji was a composite one, with all faiths being granted a part of his people.

The other force of the film is the character of Shivaji, played by Sharad Kelkar. I cannot think of a better-cast role in recent times. His voice and his character go well with the faith around Shivaji, even though he is half a foot taller in real life than the legendary king was supposed to be. Tanhaji’s commitment to his king thus hardly seems accidental. It seems like a genuine reason for his absolute commitment to reclaim Kondhana fort.

kajol movie review

Khan’s appearance is worthy of a precise piece all by itself; not because the actor has pulled off something remarkable from an acting prospect, but because he seems to have figured out the exact pitch of a commercial ‘performance’ in a film like this. So Khan’s urban savvy is still there to see just under the Udaybhan exterior, but it only helps the film, distinguishing with the stoic Devgn’s intense-but-one-note Tanaji.

My Ratings for this movie: 4 stars out of 5 stars.

My Ratings: 3.5 on 5 stars

The use of the word “sperm” is considered to be a big taboo in our society. But in this film, the use of sperm is all over the places. If we go by the master himself – Taran Adarsh, he has rated the movie a blockbuster by 4 out of 5 stars. Whereas a few media channels are claiming it as a boring and lethargic topic by giving it a 2 out of 5 stars. Well, I have watched the movie and read what I have to say about Good Newwz Movie Review.

good newwz batra vs batra

The word sperm was last use thoroughly in the Hindi movie Vicky Donor, since then this kind of Hakte use of this term is not seen in Bollywood cinema. Good Newwz comes with a genuinely striking story which is realistic as well in our surroundings. It is a pasteurised, still-born comedy that connects on a pregnancy clinic mix-up that sends two culturally dissimilar couples into a spiral of desperation and confusion. Both states of mind are likely to spill out of the film’s smooth universe and rub off on all but the most liberal of Mumbai movie fans who may be twisted to fall for its gossamer veneer and full-of-beans star cast. But that is, of course, the most invisible one anticipates from a movie that has Karan Johar on board as a co-producer.

The Movie Review

Deepti (Kareena Kapoor Khan) and Varun Batra (Akshay Kumar) are a rich, high-flying wedded couple. They live in Mumbai and are very much gripped in their respective careers. Deepti wishes to have a baby and they both have been trying for years. Here the comedy and the urge between both of them seemed to be complimenting. Later when they could not due to family pressure they consulted one of the best fertility specialists in the city. The doctor advises IVF and they were ready for it.

good newwz review

The only hitch is when after a few days the procedure is through, Deepti and Varun are told there has been a sperm mix-up with another couple with the same last name. Enter ‘the Batras from Chandigarh’ into their lives. Honey (Diljit Dosanjh) and Monika (Kiara Advani) are a raucous Punjabi couple and now it’s an impeccable clash of judgments between the two sets of Batras. As both Deepti and Monika shortly find out they are pregnant, the rest of the film traces how the couples come to terms and deal with this strange situation.

Stroy Line Review

Through much of its runtime, director Raj Mehta guarantees that ‘Good Newwz’ stays true to its genre with several light-hearted and humorous moments. Add to that, the speed of the film stays mostly tight. Although given the subject and basis the anecdote, at times, tramps into a problematic zone and position. And some of the jokes seem off-colour. There’s also an inclination to over-explain and analyse in some portions which stick out. Also, the screenplay barely pricks the surface when it comes to getting into the depth and complexity of the situation.

Nevertheless, the performances are top-notch. Kareena Kapoor Khan lifts the show and delivers a knockout performance as the refined Deepti, and her character’s passionate arc is developed well. Akshay Kumar hits the right spot with his comic timing. As does Diljit Dosanjh, who settles his teeth into his character and plays it with full enthusiasm. Kiara Advani is a very serious actor and has made a strong impression. Adil Hussain as the straight-faced doctor, at the core of all the confusion, is a howl. And as a couple, both Kareena and Akshay play off each other well and many of their interplays come off as very relatable.

At the heart of it, ‘Good Newwz’ is a light and sprightly comedy and assuredly makes for an exciting watch. Read more movie reviews of your favourite movies from Hollywood and Bollywood.
